The Van Hunnick History Department of the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, is seeking to hire one tenure-track assistant professor in the history of modern Eurasia/Russian Empire/Soviet Union, including its constituent lands and peoples, beginning August 2024. We are looking particularly for applications from scholars whose work decenters the imperial metropole, focuses on understudied regions and peoples, and/or crosses conventional chronological and geographical boundaries. Academic fluency in at least one regional language in addition to Russian is preferred.

The annual base salary range for this position is $89,250 - $94,250.
